The Communist Youth Movement of the Netherlands (CJB) and the New Communist Party of the Netherlands (NCPN) organized an event in Amsterdam for commemorating the October Revolution and the 25th year since the foundation of the NCPN.
The Communist Youth Movement of the Netherlands (CJB) organised a number of events in order to honour the October Revolution throughout 2017. One of these was the national event held in Amsterdam on the 25th of November together with the New Communist Party of the Netherlands (NCPN), where they also commemorated the 25 years since the party was founded. Under the title “The meaning of the October Revolution of 1917 for now, 2017 – 25 years NCPN”, the contribution of the CC of the CJB dealt with the October Revolution, the struggle of the Bolsheviks and the lessons the youth can in our view learn from it today.
After the presentation of the historical context of the late 19th and early 20th century, the bourgeois democratic February Revolution and the formation of the Provisional Government was explained. Later, the stance of the Bolsheviks towards these important historical developments was carefully treated by referring to Lenin’s famous phrases. At the end of the presentation, the meaning of the lessons drawn from the Bolsheviks’ experience was reflected upon today’s conditions of struggle.
